Arsenal have been maintaining their strong league position through some impressive victories and midfielder Mikel Arteta believes that the trio of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, and Santi Cazorla make things happen.
These are some of the big-name attacking players brought in by Arsene Wenger, who finally relaxed the policy of spending less in order to preserve the financial status of the club. The move to the Emirates stadium immediately limited Arsenal’s capability to spend in the transfer window. The increased revenues from this new stadium has now contributed to Arsenal being able to splash out on names like Ozil, who cost £ 42 million.
Sanchez was the big-money signing last summer and he became an instant hit after scoring 25 goals in all competitions last campaign. After struggling to settle into the Premier league immediately, Ozil has been a major contributor once again with 10 assists so far. Cazorla has been a steady player for Arsenal even if any other big-name fails to deliver. He has been the biggest source of consistency for the gunners. Arteta recently extended his spell with Arsenal by an additional year to remove any doubts about his future. The midfielder recently expressed his dissatisfaction at the club not being able to offer more than a one-year contract to players above 30.
"[Sanchez and Ozil] are probably the most creative players in the team along with Santi Cazorla. They are the guys who can make the difference for us at any moment.Even if we're not playing well, you know that they can always provide a spark and win a game for us.We need to find the right balance in the team to give these players freedom on the pitch to affect the result," said Arteta. The 33-year-old has featured in eight matches for Arsenal this season.
