Manchester City have completed the signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for a British record fee of £100 million and it has had a lot of tongues wagging, with many people expressing their opinions and what they feel about the transfer.
Pep Guardiola revealed that City needed another attacker in the team and after already initiating talks with Villa for the transfer of the England international attacking midfielder, they had to continue negotiations with the club and the player so they would try to get the transfer over the line as soon as possible.
Aston Villa already stated a few weeks ago that they would not be selling their star player for anything lower than their £100 million valuation of him because they did not even want to let him go in the first place. However, with the player indicating that he wanted a new challenge and the chance to start winning titles in his career, the club had to grant him his heart desires of signing for the current Champions of the Premier League.
Without Grealish, Manchester City reached the final of the UEFA Champions League last season and were beaten to the title by Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side. The match ended by a 1-0 scoreline in favor of the Blues and former Tottenham player Michael Laudrup has now revealed that the Cityzens do not have any excuse to not win the title this season after already spending that huge sum on Grealish this summer.
According to Laudrup, if City could reach the Champions League final without the services of Grealish, then since they are now a stronger side, they are expected to do beyond what they did last season. Laudrup says Guardiola would not be excused if he fails to deliver the UCL title this time around.
