SILVA MAKES AN IMPACT AT SWANSEA

David Silva picked up a calf injury during Manchester City’s Champions League match against CSKA Moscow which saw the Premier League team winning with a comfortable 5-2 final scoreboard. The injury has not allowed the Spanish midfielder on being featured for any of the club’s 6 latest matches.

The injury however does have a silver lining as Samir Nasri has made a breakthrough into the main squad of the club and not only but that his performances have in the Premier League have had a major difference since Silva was hit with the calf injury.

The Frenchman has scored 3 goals in the 3 latest matches with Manchester City and all in all is just making a difference with the team, a spark that he was not displaying ever since playing with Arsenal.

He completed 38 passes out of 41 passes made during City’s match against Viktoria Plzen in one of the performances that inspired Roberto Mancini to make a move for Nasri with a transfer fee in the region of £25 million back in 2011.

Manchester City face tough competition in this month as they have to play against Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Arsenal, and a match against Leicester for the Capital One Cup which means that with David Silva still not making a full recovery, a lot of the responsibility will be on the shoulders of Nasri as he wants to continue his recent burst of superb performances. Unibet reckon City will struggle to win all their matches.

Even Yaya Toure recently spoke about sudden change of form that Nasri is experiencing.

“This year we have Samir doing very well,” said Toure. “We have missed David Silva a bit as well, but Samir is unbelievable, an incredible player. He made a real impact against Swansea and scored two fantastic goals. When he signed for City, the first season was quite difficult for him.
